Full Synopsis - Page 1

A device used throughout the play, to move from scene to scene, is the turning page of a large book.

The Narrator describes Winnie-the-Pooh living in the forest.

Pooh hears a buzzing sound and reasons there must be bees nearby… and if there are bees there must be honey. He sings about how much he loves honey (“Isn’t It Funny?). He asks the audience to sing along, teaches them their part (“Buzz, buzz!) and climbs the tree to get the honey. At the end of the song he falls out of the tree.

Upon hearing the crashing sounds Christopher Robin, Piglet, and Roo run in from different directions. Pooh asks if anyone has a balloon. Piglet and Roo run to get a balloon. They return with a green and a blue balloon. Pooh takes the blue balloon and – accompanied by music – slowly floats into the sky and does a bit of a balloon ballet.

Pooh asks Christopher Robin to walk up and down, look up every now and then, and say, “Tut-tut, looks like rain” to fool the bees. Christopher Robin goes off for an umbrella.

Christopher Robin returns with an umbrella. They all, along with the Audience sing. (“Tut-Tut, Looks Like Rain”). Roo, Christopher Robin, and the Audience sing together. Pooh and Piglet sing a counterpoint part as a round.

At the end of the song a bee stings Pooh. He decides they are not the right sort of bees and therefore the wrong kind of honey. He decides to come down but to do so CR must shoot the balloon with his toy rifle. The first shot hits Pooh. The second shot hits the balloon and Pooh gently floats to the ground.
