Rob Goodman has worked as a director and producer of professional theater since 1976. While working toward his BA at St. Cloud State University and his MFA at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, he directed summer stock and local productions in Minnesota, New Hampshire, and North Carolina. Rob worked at Playmakers Repertory Theatre in Chapel Hill for two years. Rob and his family moved to Milwaukee in 1979 to work at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, where he was resident director.

In 1987, Rob founded First Stage. Under his leadership as Producing Artistic Director, First Stage became one of the nation’s premier, professional theaters for young audiences and families. Rob directed over sixty productions, including 25 world premieres. Throughout his career, Rob has been committed to the development of new works. At First Stage he commissioned over 40 new plays and has worked with such playwrights as Charles Strouse, Robert Schenkkan, Harry Connick, Jr., Stephen Schwartz, James DeVita, Kermit Frazier, Stephen Dietz, Kevin Kling, and Y York. He directed York’s RIVER RAT AND CAT and EGGS at the Provincetown Playhouse in New York City. In 1990 he worked on a collaboration with Mark Weil, renowned Russian director in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Rob has served as vice president of TYA/USA, the national association of theatre for young audiences and is a retired member of Actors Equity Association and the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. He now resides in Ivins, Utah.

John is a composer, recording engineer, and sound designer whose experience covers a broad range of work in scoring, arranging and music composition for television, documentaries, radio, industrial video, and theatre. His original music has won numerous awards, including Golden Reel Awards; Telly Awards; national, regional and local American Advertising Federation Awards, Silver Microphone Awards and Radio Amateurs of Canada Awards for advertising.

Commercial clients include Toyota, General Motors, Walgreen’s, Sears, Hilton, Mercury Marine, Miller Brewery, Kohl’s Dept. Stores, Dremel Tools, Birds Eye, Ski-Doo, Northwestern Mutual, Optima Batteries (with Tim Allen), GNC, Hot Pockets, Hormel, Sprint (with Kelsey Grammer), and Sargento Foods.

John has garnered Gold and Platinum sales certifications for his album engineering work. His projects include scores for NBC, ABC, Lionsgate and PBS. He has written original scores and designed sound for theatrical productions at Milwaukee Rep, Yale Repertory Theatre, American Players Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the park, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, First Stage, The Fireside Theatre, Kohl’s Wild Theater and many others.
